Gene Tangney
Born into one of the dozen or so families in the Black Valley Genes early years were spent tending the family sheep flock on the Reeks and participating in the pony trekking business at the neighbouring Gap of Dunloe.On leaving school, Gene joined the tide of Irish emigrants and headed for London. In 1992 he returned home and set up a very successful building company.
However, "Black Valley Equestrian" is his dream creation and allows Gene to share this majestic valley and surrounding area with discerning visitors who, like himself, love horses.
"Black Valley Equestrian" is a small specialist and highly personalised business; operated by Gene, his wife Joanne and their son Féidhlim, from the spectacular stone house they built as their home.
As well as being a highly accomplished horseman, Gene Tangney is also a keen mountaineer who has climbed and travelled some of the world's remotest regions.
The magic and beauty of the Black Valley, together with Gene's unique way of life and his rare understanding of his place & people, makes time spent riding along side him a very special experience.
