Travellers around the world agree on the beauty of the Irish landscape and it is generally accepted that the county of Kerry is the jewel in the crown.
Kerry consists mostly of promontories that extend further west into the Atlantic than any part of Europe. The sea is never far away and with the weather changing constantly, the countryside illuminates in amazing light. The Gulf Steam ensures that even here at latitutes comparable to Moscow and Labrador, lush tropical vegitation thrives. It is a wild beauty recently described by one writer as a place of "mountain and ocean with a little land in between".
