Seven Day Tour
Day 1
Arrive at Local Airport (Shannon, Kerry International, Cork) - airport transfer arranged to Killarney, County Kerry. Upon arrival in Killarney we will take you on an hours boat ride through the heart of Ireland's finest and largest National Park to the head waters of the world-renowned lakes of Killarney at the Black Valley.
Here at our centre we willmeet and select our mounts, relax over a cup of coffee and go through our programme - and take a short ride out to the Gap of Dunloe.
Tonight we will stay in a Valley Farmhouse on lcation - for our ride tommorrow.
Day 2
Our first full days ride will take us along by the Upper Lake of Killarney into a remote stand of Irish Oaks before following an old green road over the hills of the Killarney Valley and down into Neidín (the little nest- Kenmare) situated at the head of a long narrow bay. Kenmare is a small colourful market town with agreat history and character. It is a gourmet centre and boasts one of the world's finest hotels. It is our base for three nights.
Day 3
The Beara Peninsula is very remote and very sparsely populated. It is a place of mountains and valleys with small family farmsteads etched into the hillsides. Today we will ride over a truely spectacular route, through rare natural history, on a landscape rich in archaeology that spans 4,000 years. Our circular route will take us back to Kenmare.
Day 4
Today is billed atouring day - though if the hardened enthusiast wishes, the horse will be available and so too are great treks. Its a day to partake in some tours in our van, of Ireland's most southerly peninsulas, rarely visited and full of hidden treasures. To these areas, Bronze Age people flocked some 4,000 years ago to mine copper from the sandstone hills. Ritual stone alignments and circles stand in abundance, mysterious reminders of the days when the Druids held great power. Today you can tour, walk, hike, golf on world class links courses, bike, shop or relax with a massage. Today is left open to accomodate personal interests. Overnight in Kenmare.
Day 5
Today we ride along the southern flanks of the McGillycuddy Reaks, Ireland's Highest Mountains, to the district of Glencar. This is wild territory and an exciting days trek. We will arrive at an Inn in Glencar from where, after dinner if anyone wishes, some of the country's best salmon fishing is available.
Day 6
A classic day on horseback. Along the Caragh River Valley to Caragh Lake before heading west out of this spectacular valley, over the Windy Gap to the Atlantic Ocean and Rossbeigh Beach. This evening we will transfer around the bay of Dingle to Dingle Town to enjoy Irish Culture that thrives here with a pulse found nowhere else. Amazing seafood, traditional music and fun in dozens of pubs.
Day 7
Our last day of the week will be spent exploring the Dingle Peninsula, a place described by the National Geographic Magazine a few years ago as "probably the most beautiful place on earth"! We can ride in the morning and then take a boat to the Blasket Island archipelago with its Gaelic history, off the tip of this narrow finger of land where people refer to America as "the next parish west". Today is a day of riding, walking and talking through Ireland's finest countryside - where cliffs and mountains meet the Atlantic in the most dramatic of circumstances. Here history and culture is everywhere with Dingle archaeology a major attraction. Dingle is the ideal location for our final night together.
